CORN SILAGE/HARVEST

Learning Point:
What is silage, when is it made, and how is it kept-Mt. Michelin???

Corn silage is the entire plant: stem/stock, leaves and corn ear chopped in pieces.
Trucks and wagons haul chopped silage to the silo or stack where big tractors squeeze the air out of the stack, layer by layer, load after load.  Every September, with good weather, many people work quickly to make the best corn silage possible. Our farm has 3 stacks that equal 15,000 tons or 1000 semi-truck loads.

Learning Point:
How much do cows eat?   How are they helping to improve your world??

Think of your favorite cookies. Your mom probably uses a recipe to make them.  Does she use a kitchen mixer and a list, nothing but the best right!  For our cows it's the same!
All ingredients are tested for quality, water content, nutritional value, and weighed to make the perfect meal everyday. The only difference is we use a bigger spoon and mixer!
Our cows actually eat healthier meals every day than most people.
Hi-quality hay comes from Colorado and Kansas, while cotton seed comes from the Carolina’s, Georgia and Tennessee.
