SEE THE BABIES
Remember each cow must have a child called a calf in order to start making milk so if you visit the farm there is a good chance you will see a new born calf. Kids love calves and calves love kids.
Just like you were taken to a special part in the hospital when you were born, calves are cleaned by their moms and then taken to their own special room called a hutch.

Similar to kids, each calf receives 3 shots and drink their moms first special milk called colstrum. Calves are fed milk each day for 6 weeks then dry food called grain.  Slowly calves start to drink water as they are weaned from milk.  Just like YOU!

Calves are then put into group pens.  As calves grow, boys "bulls" and girls "heifers" like to be with friends.  This is called herding.  (Recess is more fun with a group of people-RIGHT!)  After 2 years a heifer has a baby called a calf and then begins milking.
